Boy, it’s been a busy month! Not only have the holidays been hectic but we bought a new house. So not much knitting has been happening and with the move, I don’t know how much more I will be doing next month. But I did finish the Metaphor Socks, more as a procrastination tactic than anything else. I have to say that I am not too happy with them. The color is off and the fit is weird. But if anyone wants to try them out and maybe make some changes for the better, I have put what I did in a pattern. The pattern can be downloaded off my pattern page. I think the Momen sculpture deserves a better tribute than these socks, but for now I don’t have the time or inclination to make them better. Maybe this summer…
Next up: something quick and easy but more beautiful than the socks.
I finished the color work for the top of the sock. Boy, it really was a pain with all the colors and bobbins. But it looks pretty good. I am concerned about the width. I think I will just have to join in the round and then gauge how long to make them. They can be adjusted based on anyone’s calf size. I have big Scottish calves so they might be anklets. But someone with willowy legs could conceivably make them thigh highs.
It was not pleasant to knit this with screaming kids running around. I should have waited until they were asleep. But here it is. This is a picture of the balls all joined together. The intarsia is definitely not for the faint of heart. I will do duplicate stitch for the stripes on the second sock to see if it is easier. I also don’t know if they will even fit over a heel to make it into a sock. I might be making the end of a scarf instead.
