Sense of Place

I created several new pieces for my and Kelly Baisley’s upcoming exhibition Sense of Place at the Alice Gallery in SLC. This piece of wearable landscape is inspired by an early morning sunrise we witnessed at the salt flats in the west desert. The exhibit opens this Friday but also come to the reception on December 7. I will be publishing patterns of the new art I created throughout the next month so if you like anything you can knit it up yourself! The first will be this one, Salt Flats Sunrise published in Ravelry.

Visible Mending

My naughty beagle, Keaton, chewed up my beloved waxed plaid field bag from Fringe Supply Co. He gutted it like a rabbit! It called for some visible mending inside and out. It took a whole week of working on nothing else but I may like it better now!

Wearable Maps

Navigating a Salt Lake City can be made easier with an interactive map that also keeps you warm. Why use tech when a scarf is a more tactile way to find your destination? Pin your favorite hangout or mark your starting place. This map of Salt Lake City can be your companion around town and won't run out of batteries. Pattern available on Ravelry here

Mushroom Shrug

Just a quick shrug I designed based on one I have in my wardrobe. I liked the construction of it so reproduced it in a mushroom color. I published the pattern on Ravelry here if anyone else wanted to make it. The original is a wardrobe staple and I think I might do another one in yellow.

From the pattern: Utah has several thousand species of fungi, quite amazing for a high desert. From delicately edible to the most deadly, mushrooms grow in many places around the state. Mushroom spotting is a great way to spend a day outdoors but you might need a shrug to fend off the damp environment that mushrooms love.
