Spiral Cowl

The Spiral is a great image that can inspire a lot of knitting motifs. I remember being very cold at the Jetty so I want to make a neck warmer or cowl. I am thinking of something with spirals all over it instead of one big spiral. Here is my first idea:

I might have to make it in pieces and sew it together. I remember seeing a similarly pieced cardigan or sweater in a Vogue Knitting some years back. I will have to look in my library to see if I can find it.
