Rozel Point

Although I have been many times before and even in winter, our recent trip to Rozel Point to see the Spiral Jetty was incredibly inspiring. I could not stop drinking in the muted winter colors. We were the first to drive there on snow-dusted roads so the only tracks that we followed were rabbit tracks.

There was one rabbit that seemed to follow the road all the way to the Spiral Jetty. We kept thinking that we would see him there when we got to our destination. Instead we were blessed with an incredible view of the Jetty set against the salt flats of the receding lake.

But the views that really spoke to me were the yellow and brown dormant plants set against the black basalt and white snow.

I was so inspired, that I immediately went out and bought yarn that echoed the colors: beautiful golds, tans and grays. And in amazing Shibui Merino Alpaca. I can’t wait to get started on designing and knitting something. I will definitely make it some kind of Fair Isle design that can showcase the colors.
